Hey, I'm Bec. I'm a career coach. I help people who don’t fit into society’s little boxes figure out what the hell to do with their careers… and actually make it happen.

As featured in:

I'm the career coach for the outliers...

The ones who don’t fit into society’s neat little boxes.
The ones who’ve tried doing things the “right” way… and it didn’t quite work.

The overthinkers.
The big feelers.
The neurodivergent legends.
The rebels, misfits, and quiet questioners.
The ones who know they’re capable of more… but can’t quite connect the dots.

I didn’t set out with a “target market” when I started Pop Your Career back in 2015.

I just showed up as myself.

And over time, these are the people who found me.

They’re my people.

Maybe you are too?

Let's chat! Book a free 15 minute phone call.

Jump straight into my calendar below and book a time to chat. I’ll give you a buzz at your chosen time and we’ll talk through where you’re at, what’s not working, and what to do next.

Most people come to this call feeling stuck and leave with clarity.

Want to know a little more about me?

Jerry Maguire said it best. "Help me help you". It pretty much sums up my whole philosophy and I'm kicking myself that I didn't come up with it.

I help people do better and be better in their careers. It's just what I do. And if you're here, I'm guessing you could probably do with some help. How can I say that with so much confidence? Well, because I have the knowledge, skills and experience to back me up. I also have a wicked sense of humour, some freakish intuition, a career coaching toolkit that Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor would envy and a tendency to drop references to pop culture... from the 80's and 90's.

What my clients say about working with me...

I wouldn't have been in this position... if you hadn't helped me last year to work through my values, goals and self-confidence. I was at such a loss for what to do next and you were so wonderful in steering me in the right direction. I am forever grateful for your coaching.

My coaching sessions with you helped me identify so much about myself and left me confident in my decision... I often think of our coaching sessions and find my self, subconsciously applying much of what we discussed. You helped me find clarity at a time when I was really lost, for which I’ll be eternally grateful.

Working with (Bec) I was able to gain clarity about the type of work that I wanted to pursue and she provided invaluable support when I was applying for roles. I would highly recommend Bec as a career coach as she has a wealth of knowledge and is able to work with you to help you achieve your career goals.

More kind words from my gorgeous clients...

Bec’s discussion with me about changes to my resume was very useful because when I got to interview, I was clear in my own mind about what I should discuss with the interviewer, what I should expand on from my resume, and what my strengths were. As a result, I spoke more confidently and concisely than in the past and left the interview feeling I had presented the most employable version of myself.

Bec was very helpful and gave me honest and useful feedback on my interview technique. She was able to put me in the shoes of the people interviewing me, so I could understand how to come across in the best possible way. She showed me better ways to present my work history, both in my CV and during an interview, to make it easier for me to show I had relevant skills and experience for the roles I wanted.

I... worked with (Bec) to improve my Resume and Cover Letter which helped me to better portray my skills and experience. She shared a number of great ideas and action points which helped me to think in the right direction. She is fun to work with and goes out of her way to help you achieve your goals. Would certainly recommend Bec to anyone looking to move up the career ladder or simply change their career.

Frequently asked questions

I don't know if I'm an "outlier"... Can we still work together?

Are you an outlier? Well, as far as I'm concerned, there are no hard and fast rules. You might hate me for saying this, but being an outlier is more about a feeeeeling!

Have you ever felt like you just don't quite "fit"? Perhaps you see the model society proposes as "normal" and you can't quite relate? Maybe you've faced adversity in your life and you feel like in some situations you're on the outside looking in, as a result? If you said "yes" to any of these questions, then you're probably what I'd call an "outlier". You can read more about my thoughts on this here.

How do I know if you're the right career coach for me?

Finding a career coach you vibe with is super important. You want to be sure you feel safe, seen, heard, understood and supported. The truth is that we will never really know until we start working together, however, I feel pretty strongly that:

  • If you feel any sort of connection, fondness or intrigue when perusing my website, it's worth booking a call or jumping into Voxer so we can chat and get to know each other a little better.
  • If you enjoy chatting with me on the phone or in Voxer, feel a match in our energy, like my answers to your questions and feel confident that you can be open, honest and vulnerable in a coaching relationship with me, it's likely a good fit!

What if we have the first session and I don't like you or your approach?

That's okay! Before we start working together, I'll ask you to read and agree to my coaching terms and conditions. In that document, I explain that if you complete one session with me and you don't want to proceed, I'll happily offer you a refund of any unused sessions and/or cancel any invoices for unused sessions. I'm not the kind of gal to force a relationship, so I'll do my best to ensure that we can go our separate ways with minimal fuss.

With that in mind, this has never happened - I've never had a client attend a single session and decide we're not right for each other. This is mostly due to the fact that I only work with clients who I've done a consult with first, and after more than 10 years of coaching and behavioural profiling, I'm pretty good at knowing when someone isn't a good fit and referring them to another career coach who meets their needs.

Can you help me with... ?

I hate saying it, because it makes me feel hella old, but I've been in the Human Resources industry for 20 years now. And you can bet that during that time, I've seen a lot! I've also coached private clients for 10 of those years and have supported people with a whole range of different challenges, hopes and dreams. I'd recommend being clear during our consult chat about what you're looking for support with. This gives me an opportunity to share my experience and knowledge with you and confirm whether or not I could be a suitable wing-woman!

My employer wants me to get some career coaching. Can you help?

I sure can! Lots of my clients have their career coaching funded by their employers and usually it's pretty easy to arrange. If you'd like some more information about the process, I'd suggest checking out my handy guide on how to get your employer to pay for your career coaching, which you can find here.

Can NDIS fund my career coaching arrangement?

Absolutely! I'm not an NDIS registered provider - it might be something I look into in the future, but right now it's not a priority for me. With that said, I do have a number of clients who have had their coaching funded by NDIS. Most of these clients access coaching through their "capacity building" budget, but I am really no expert when it comes to the world of NDIS, so best to chat with your Plan Manager about the nuances and how to seek approval.

I'm ready to go! How do we get started?

Amazing! I'm really looking forward to working with you. For a full breakdown of the onboarding process, click here. I've tried to make this as easy as possible with as few unnecessary barriers to entry as possible, but if any stage of the process feels a little tricky, just let me know and I'll do everything I can to accommodate you.
